What is HATS?
HATS is the acronym for the HIV AIDS Test Screening Software. It is free software that lets individuals know if they need an HIV test.
Does HATS include any other information?
In addition HATS provides other important information including:
- Is a repeat HIV test needed?
- Might an HIV test at a regular checkup be appropriate?
- Should one be evaluated for STD testing or as well?
- Is Post-exposure prophylaxis warranted?
What is the difference between HATS and the home HIV test?
The two are very different. The in-home HIV test, can identify if your body has made antibodies to the HIV virus. HATS is a free questionnaire that can tell you if you might benefit from taking an HIV test. The two complement one another.
Who made HATS?
Doctors and other volunteers at Medwiser helped create HATS.
How does HATS know who needs to be tested?
HATS provides information based on guidelines of the Center’s for Disease Control and the United States Preventive Services Task Force. These organizations have created their recommendations based on exhaustive reviews of peer-reviewed medical literature.
Does HATS provide medical advice?
No. It is purely information that we hope will help provide you with relevant information that can assist you in making a more informed decision. However, it is not a substitute for a health care professional, advice, diagnosis or treatment. We recommend that you always visit or speak to a qualified health service provider, in person, prior to starting new treatment or with questions regarding a medical condition.
